Miele wins six Red Dot Design Awards 2015

No fewer than six products from Miele recently received the coveted Red Dot Design Award for design excellence. Alongside five domestic appliances, a series of commercial washer-disinfectors from Miele Professional were among the award-winning products.

Miele has received one of Europe's most important sustainability prizes for its on-going sustainable corporate policies. Miele announces world first – and presents cooking appliances in XXL format

'A new world of cooking' is the motto under which Miele will be presenting itself at the LivingKitchen in Cologne (January 19-25, 2015). In terms of products, the tradition-steeped Gütersloh-based company will be treading new ground in two respects: Firstly, Miele will be creating a completely new product category and, secondly, the company is set to present versatile cooking products with American format for the first time on the European market.

Dynamic presentation

At this year's Kitchen Mile presentation at the Gut Böckel country estate, Miele will be placing its focus on avant-garde design elements. The exhibition area covering around 700 m² will be dominated by angles which add new perspectives to space. This generates a dynamism which will spill over to the products on display.

New milestones

Miele is due to upgrade its current W1/T1 range of washing machines and tumble dryers by adding new USPs. With a view to energy labelling on vacuum cleaners, the family-owned Miele company will be launching a completely new range - in keeping with its motto of being "Immer Besser" (forever better). The Miele showcase covering an area of 3000 m² can be found by visitors at the usual location in Hall 2.1 (Booth 101).

Shortly after the sales launch Miele Professional receives the coveted iF design award for its new commercial dishwashers. For the judges it was crucial that these machines not only have an elegant appearance but also make everyday working life considerably simpler for users.

April 13th was a positive event for Miele. More international visitors than ever before were welcomed at Miele’s booth. There were overall successful results too: the tradeshow reported 10% more visitors (357,000 in total).

AWARD-WINNING DIALOGUES

Miele’s DIALOGUES publication receives the ICMA Award of Excellence for an exemplary concept and design in the category of Corporate Books – Concept!
389 publications from 17 countries participated in the fourth ICMA – International Corporate Media Award. This competition aims to improve the exchange of information on corporate media, corporate design and magazines on an international level. This competition was launched in 2010 and is hosted by the International Editorial-Design and Research Forum. Prizes are awarded in a total of 20 categories. more

 Miele's new 'DIALOGUES' book for architects covers the contrasting juxtaposition of issues of our time and shows a wide range of opinions to inspire. Thematic viewpoints such as Conventions – Visions, Functions – Emotions, Limits – Boundless, etc. cause tension fields which encourage taking a stance. At the same time the new generation is introduced.

World premier of solar dryer

Using solar energy to heat air in a tumble dryer – this world first has now been introduced to the market by Miele. The T 8881 S EcoComfort is connected to a home's central heating system which, in turn, is linked to a solar-thermal rooftop array. This reduces the burden on the environment as a solar dryer with an A+++ energy efficiency rating is up to 80% more efficient.

Energy management in a field study

Since March 2012 Miele has been carrying out a field study in cooperation with RWE Deutschland AG (a German electric utilities company) on flexible electricity consumption in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany. The participants are private households which are fitted out with network-enabled domestic appliances which automatically recognize and start working when electricity is at its cheapest. This allows the utilization of cheap-rate tariffs.

Living Duo

Singapore is increasingly dominated by high-rises which are often built as egoistic single objet s in a town without integrating into the environment on a social or spatial level. The recently presented draft from Ole Scheeren of his DUO project presents a stark contrast to this. The two towers are not understood to be autonomous objects, but instead are defined by the urban spaces existing around them.

Reflecting crystals

The six reflecting towers at "Keppel Bay" in Singapore appear to be bending like straws in the wind. The facade also reflects this undulating motion: The aluminium cladding reflects the water of the adjacent marina and - depending on the weather - clouds and daylight ambience.

Football or cooking? Preferably both.

Events in stadiums today are no longer only about football – in fact, modern football arenas are multifunctional event spaces. Berlin's Olympic stadium, built in the mid-30s, has recently opened a "Cooking Lounge". A large active kitchen with a direct view onto the stadium grounds. Miele equipped the Cooking Lounge with 41 high-end built-in appliances ranging from oven to wine conditioning units.

Miele reports new record turnover: The world's leading manufacturer of premium domestic appliances achieved sales of EUR 3.04 bn in the 2011/12 financial year which ended on June 30, 2012. This corresponds to an increase of 3.1%.

Inspiration for the senses

Miele's fifth appearance at the IFA trade show to be held in Berlin from August 31 until September 5, 2012 promises to inspire all the senses. On an area covering around 3000 m² in Hall 2.1, Miele will be presenting its new products and technologies, showcased for example in the culinary highlights offered by the 'Walk of Taste' or by the 'Miele Fashion Days'. Sometimes things have to be done at the double: with the new ProfiLine dishwasher. Connected to hot water and a 3-phase supply, it is possible to achieve cycle times of as little as 17 minutes. With its own showroom concept, Miele aims at making special features of its products real and tangible worldwide; in many metropolises in the world, Miele showrooms invite everyone to immerse themselves in the world of pleasure and lifestyle. The Miele Gallery in Chile’s capital city is characterized first and foremost by its attractive location. When designing the Santiago De Chile showroom, which was opened in December 2010, the focus was on creating space for the art of living with active kitchens – room for product presentations, cookery events, fashion shows, events for customers and many more.

Innovative test laboratory

Are functionality and technology of Miele appliances as suitable for Asian cuisine as they are for Western? Miele Singapore decided that chefs-to-be are best suited to find this out. In cooperation with the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, in which chefs learn Western as well as Asian cooking techniques, the South East Asia Innovation Centre was opened in Singapore. Equipped with Miele's current range of appliances, the Innovation Centre offers chefs in Asia a platform for experimenting, researching and communicating with each other.

Exciting venue for pleasure and quality

Less than 10 months after the ground-breaking ceremony, Miele has now opened its doors in grand style in Austria's capital: In the new Miele Gallery in Vienna, consumers, dealers, architects and property developers can experience the world of the Miele brand first-hand in an exquisite area covering 670 m². In total, Miele has invested EUR 10 m in this new brand embassy on the Vorarlberger Allee – presenting the entire gamut of products in elegant ambience.

Sustainability made transparent

Miele's 2011 Sustainability Report has achieved an enviable 7th position in the Institute for Ecological and Economic Research (IÖW)/future ranking published end of February. This represents a rise of 9 positions for the Gütersloh company compared with the last ranking in 2009, despite stricter criteria. At the same time, Miele is the only domestic appliance manufacturer to feature among the Top Ten – and also the highest-ranking family-owned company. 'With a focus on people' is the title of the most recent Miele Sustainability Report.

New Miele Galleries in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur

Miele has more than 50 galleries worldwide in which interested visitors can experience the fascination of the Miele brand at first hand. Galleries most recently opened are the Miele Gallery in Berlin situated in the traditional 'Kaiserhöfe' on the 'Unter den Linden' noble boulevard and two galleries at exclusive locations in Asia. The opening of the representative rooms in the Sama Tower in Dubai was celebrated in the presence of 220 guests.

World first: Economical drying using solar power

Using direct radiant heat from the sun to dry laundry has, to date, only been possible by hanging washing out on a washing line. In future, solar power can also be used to heat the process air in a tumble dryer. At the IFA 2011, Miele presented a project study compiled in co-operation with solar technology manufacturer Solvis involving a solar tumble dryer. A project particularly of interest to project developers and home owners, the solar tumble dryer is planned to be available as of early 2013.

The IFA trade show in Berlin has a long-standing reputation as being the world's most important exhibition for consumer electronics and domestic appliances. For Miele, this is an important annual event – and a challenge at the same time. From September 2 to 7, 1441 exhibiters presented their products in Berlin and competed fiercely for visitors' attention. On a 3000 m² stand, Miele focused particularly on bringing the company brand and its core competences alive.

Two extreme Off-road vehicles with exquisite interior features leave nothing to be desired in terms of convenience and quality, even in inhospitable terrains. They have recently been delivered to two Mongolian businessmen from Ulan Bator for hunting trips into the Alai mountains, lasting several days.

Three new discovery centres for stylish indulgence

These showrooms allow you to become immersed in the world of Miele and are now present in over 40 cities. Three new showrooms have been added across three continents: Since December 2010, there have been new Miele Galleries in Santiago de Chile and in Brno – the Czech Republic’s second city – while the opening of the Shanghai showroom took place in January 2011.
